January 2025 Kindergarten Character Strong Awards for Perseverance
The student council will be selling Valentine’s Day candy grams for $2 at lunch from February 10th to February 13th. The candy grams will be past out on February 13th.

Our students at GEMS were able to meet the daily goal of 90% attendance every day in January! That is very impressive. Keep up the good work, Bulldogs!

The DNA photo shows DNA suspended in solution as part of a lab in Mr. Johnson's eight grade science class. Each little bubble is on top of individual strands of DNA. This lab was a magnificent success. The Titration photo depicts an Acid/Base neutralization lab where the lightest shade of pink accomplished wins. Khloe and Krissy won hands-down across the entire 8th grade.
The 3rd-grade Roman Wax Museum was a success! The students did an amazing job writing and presenting about their chosen Roman figure. We are so proud of them! Thank you to the parents for helping with costumes, columns, and presentation practice. We are so thankful for the students, staff, school board trustees, and community members who supported the 3rd-graders. You were all great audience members and showed so much respect!
Local snow plow drivers from the Idaho Department of Transportation visited GEMS. The eighth grade students were given a presentation about safely maneuvering the roadways when plows are on the highway. GEMS students were given the opportunity to explore the plows. One of our third grade students, Addison, submitted a name to be given to our new local plow. Her idea won the competition and the name Alpha Storm One has been reflectively applied to the front of the plow. Thanks IDT for an incredible event!
Ms. Barker's fourth-grade class finished their first community book club meeting on the book Seaman and Naya Nuki. These two books are about the Lewis and Clark expedition and are paired to go along with the Adventures of Lewis and Clark: the musical directed by Ms Carla. Many thanks to the community members who joined us to talk all about the books and for bringing food connected to the books. Ms. Barker's fourth-grade class went on a walking field trip to Camas Prairie Eye Clinic where the students learned about how eyes are examined and the most important things to keep your eyes healthy. We loved our visit!

In 6th grade earth science, we’re making models of sedimentary rock formation by crushing Jolly Ranchers to make sediment and then compressing the sediment into rock.
GEMS received the nicest Thank You card from the Senior Center for the Christmas tree we donated. The kids made the decorations. Schools are an important part of the community, and we always look for ways to give back.
