Mrs. VanGunten and Ms. Devon Barker’s classes went to the St. Gertrude Museum and stopped at the informational signs for Lewis and Clark. They enjoyed learning about Buckskin Bill, Polly Bemis, how the VanGunten Family donated to the land for St . Gertrude‘s, and finally where the Lewis and Clark expedition traveled with Sergeant Ordway to trade for fish and roots with the Nez Perce on the Salmon and Snake rivers on their return journey. Thank you to the PTO at Gems for the transportation and to the museum for the grant to cover our admission

Our amazing 4th-6th grade special education staff, reset room coordinator, and counselor teamed up with our students to create these special shirts, featuring their fingerprints and the theme "Connection Before Correction." These shirts serve as a beautiful reminder of the importance of building connections with our students before addressing behavior. We’re so grateful to have our students involved in this meaningful project! 💙

For science, Mrs. Godfrey's kindergarten class predicted whether bubbles will freeze or not in the cold temperatures. They discussed what they thought will happen to the bubbles when the temperature drops. Students were able to think critically and make predictions based on their experiences. Although the bubbles didn't completely freeze, the solution began to change color as the bubbles floated away.

Mrs. Rambo's third-grade class earned a snow party with hot chocolate last November. They had to wait until the snow came to receive that reward. The class loved building snowmen, snow forts, and burying each other in the snow. They ended the experience with hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream in the classroom.

This announcement is for Mountain View School District parents and students within the Elk City, Grangeville, and Kooskia communities. Weather conditions require a 2-hour Late Start tomorrow, Thursday, February 6th, 2025. Bus route pick up times will be 2-hours later than regularly scheduled times. School doors will be unlocked 2-hours later than normal. The 2-hour delay will provide more time to restore power to affected areas in the district and allow for additional daylight to improve visibility when assessing icy roads. We will update you with future notifications if conditions change. Again, all Mountain View 244 schools will have a 2-hour late start February 6th. Please stay safe and warm.
