October 2024 Kindergarten Character Strong Awards for Responsibility

We met our attendance goal for the month of October! The average attendance for the month was 95%. That is absolutely amazing! I'm so proud of you, Bulldogs!

Mrs. Barker's fourth grade class went to US Bank for a field trip. They participated in Financial Footings education for elementary students. Students were able to count up to a dollar with their coins and exchange for a Sacajawea dollar since they are studying Sacajawea in Idaho history.

Dr. Nancy Johnston from Lewis and Clark College met with our eighth grade students today. She discussed some background information on climate (radiation, greenhouse gases and greenhouse effect) and provided short experiments with temperature and heating of gases, interpreting local data, and calculating carbon footprints.

The food science class wanted to share their accomplishment for this week. They made plum jam yesterday and it turned out great!

This week, the students at GEMS owned their education with one of our best attendance weeks of the year. We had between 94 and 96 percent of our students all week. Keep up the good work!

The kindergarten and first grade students were given reading buddies from the Idaho Forest Group to promote interest in books for our youngest learners. Students will earn opportunities to do special activities at school with their buddy when they fill book reading logs at home. A big thank you to IFG for the tiger stuffies!

To complete the requirements for their senior project at Grangeville High School, Claire Frei and Sara Kaschmitter contributed emergency buckets to our kindergarten through third grade classrooms. The hope is that another senior will continue with this as a project to equip other grade levels with this resource. Thanks, ladies!

Our mediators at GEMS have been doing an amazing job at helping students solve problems on the playground. They also serve as role models and help the younger kids with tasks such as learning how to zip up their coats.

The third grade students wrapped up their animal unit with a presentation of different animal skulls and hides. Thank you to Michael Pgefferkorn and Chantel Toliver (brought in an elk skull for us too!) for bringing in all these cool things for us to see!

The first deconsolidation hearing is available to watch on the district website! All the info available regarding the deconsolidation is accessible at https://www.sd244.org/page/deconsolidation including the latest deconsolidation info update from Trustee Harrington and Trustee Myers.

Last chance to get your LoudCup and Window/Water Bottle Stickers!! They make great gifts!

We'd love to see you at the GEMS Fall Concert! Tuesday, October 22nd @ 6:30 pm
