students smile in outdoor classroom

The 2nd and 3rd grade students at Grangeville Elementary Middle School, participated in an amazing outdoor education placed-based field day. On September 27th we took our students to the Fish Creek Campground. We had six hands-on wilderness stations that provided  great learning opportunities. Our students learned about local history and gained many lifelong skills that can be used in the wilderness. This was a continuation of the Connie Saylor Wilderness Grant the 2/3 team (Devon Barker, Valary Pfefferkorn, Carol Schmidt, Melissa Smith, Audrey Wasem, Nicole Wellard) received last year.

Without public and parental support, this day would not have been possible. Our partnership with the community was strengthened. Many thanks to the Connie Saylor Wilderness Grant, IDFG, USFS, our community, retired GEMS teachers, and GEMS staff for supporting us.
